124 Rabbit Club - To call this European beer haunt a secret underground club would be both correct and misleading: perhaps lackluster MacDougal's best kept secret, the unmarked black door is easily overlooked (the only demarcation is the '124' above its frame) and literally subterranean. But just because you must ring a little white buzzer to gain entrée doesn't mean it comes with all the pomp and pretense that categorizing it as such would imply. Once inside, this dark, cavernous space (let's just say the only light source comes from candle votives crafted from broken beer bottles) provides all the grit and grime you need to get dirty and down to business-the business of drinking rare brews from Belgium, Germany, England, Ireland, and the Czech Republic, that is. In addition to three rotating taps and 20 bottles of ales and lagers, a selection of old world wines available by the half bottle will also go nicely with one of their pretzel bread sandwiches served with chips and a pickle. Be forewarned there's hardly room to maneuver past the long copper bar and exposed brick alcoves as it is, so you might want to snag the only table in the far back right before the secret's out.
