The costume contest will return along with Dr. Demented's Science Lab, dancing, food, games, straw maze, and haunted vignettes. Named one of "Indiana's Top Ten Festivals", the 38th Annual Swiss Wine Festival takes place Aug. 27-30, 2009 at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park in Vevay, IN. Along with food, arts & crafts, midway rides, fireworks, parades, live entertainment, beer garden and riverboat cruises, the affair showcases contests and events throughout the four-day event. Canoe races, corn hole tournaments, cheerleader competitions, steintossen, basketball jamborees, a poker run and a road rally are just a few of the activities held during the event. The 2009 edition of the Midwest Championship Grape Stomp welcomes individual and group competitors to test their toe-squishing talents against friends and neighbors. Creative grape stomping costumes are welcome, and judging will take place on authenticity and enthusiasm. The winner of the 2009 Midwest Championship Grape Stomp will receive a prize and all participates become members of the "Order of the Purple Foot." The Wine Pavilion is a Swiss Wine Festival trademark, with many of Indiana's award-winning wineries offering signature renditions in samples, glass or bottle. Producers are on hand to "talk wine" and share their fruit of the vine story with others. Admission to the Swiss Wine Festival is $2 on Thurs. Aug. 27 and $3 on Aug. 28-30. Children 5-12 is $1 per day and ages 4 and under FREE. Admission to the Wine Tasting Pavilion is $12.50 per day and includes a souvenir etched wine glass. Festival times are 5-10pm on Thurs; 3:00pm-2:00am on Fri.; 10:30am-2:00am on Sat.; and 10:30am-6:30pm on Sun.
