Contestants sought for the 3rd annual state-wide Spelling Bee for Senior Citizens. The Grand Prize will be a $1,500.00 scholarship to attend the National Senior Citizens Spelling Bee competition in Cheyenne, WY in June, 2010, to compete against contestants from other states.The Salina Senior Center, City of Salina Parks and Recreation 50+ program, Humana Insurance, AARP of Kansas, RSVP of Salina, Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel, Kansas Area Agencies on Aging and Kansas State University of Salina are all partnering to sponsor this event.The Spelling Bee is open to any Kansas resident who is 50 years or older by October 1, 2009. There is a $5.00 entry fee payable in advance. Please make checks out to the Salina Senior Center. Entry forms may be obtained online or at this web site, www.salhelp.org/aging/spellingbee, or by calling 785-827-9818. Entry forms are due back by September 28th, to the Salina Senior Center, 245 N. 9th, Salina, KS 67401. Entry forms may also be picked up at the Humana booth at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson and at the Flint Hills Area Agency Senior Fair in Salina on September 22 at the Salina Senior Center booth. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged. Join the fun by signing up for the Spelling Bee by September 28, 2009.
