Getting out of a cellular service contract may seem impossible these days. Once you sign on the dotted line, it's like you've signed your life away with no chance of reprieve. Before you surrender to the cell phone companies and continue paying a cell phone contract you want out of, you should know that there are ways to get out of a cellular service contract. Follow these suggestions as you try to get out of a cellular service contract.

STEP 2:

Sign-up for a sign-off. With most cell phone companies, you can get out of a cellular service contract by having someone you don't even know take over your contract. There are websites that facilitate this process such as www.cellplandepot.com. People who wish to sign up for contracts will contact this site, and consider taking over your contract. Beware though, that this service is often at a charge to you. You won't likely get someone who is willing to pay the full-price of your contract. If you do, you will likely have to pay a finder's fee to the website.

STEP 3:

Convince a friend to take over your contract. Similar to the suggestion above, you can get out of a cellular service contract by having a friend or family member assume financial responsibilities of your phone. You will need to contact your cell phone provider and make this arrangement. There may be a small transfer fee for this service.

STEP 4:

Have the contract cancelled by default. In the unlikely chance that the phone is registered to someone who has passed away, you can call the phone company and have it cancelled without a problem. Also, if the phone is registered to someone who is in the US Army who has been stationed outside of the cell phone service area, the cell phone company must let that person out of the contract free of charge. Or, you could move to a location where service is so poor that your constant complaints will force your cell phone provider to let you off the hook.

STEP 5:

Try tethering. This option is probably your best bet at getting out of a cellular service contract. Find out if your cell phone company allows tethering. If it does, you may be surprised to learn that there is a bandwidth limit for this. You'll need to connect to the internet via a cell phone to PC (computer) connection and download as many .torrent files (or other huge files) as you can. In most situations, this will lead to your phone service being deactivated for a short period of time. If your contract states nothing about a bandwidth limitation, and your cellular service is discontinued because of this, it voids your contract. You'll be off the hook (no pun intended) with one simple phone call.
