1. Parking

Parking is always fast and easy when you fly from Charleston International Airport. For easy and convenient parking, check out the airport’s valet parking. Offered from the hours of 5AM - 1AM, or until the last flight arrives, valet parking makes getting into the airport less stressful than usual. Rates are $15.00 a day, 7 days a week. Daily parking is offered either in the surface parking area or on the deck. Parking in surface parking is free for the first half hour. After that, it costs $1.00 for each additional half hour. The daily maximum you can be charged is $8.00. If you lose your ticket, you will be charged $8.00, which is the equivalent of the minimum charge per day. Parking in the deck is also free for the first half hour, and $1.00 per each half hour thereafter. The daily maximum of 24 hours will cost you $12.00. The lost ticket fee in the deck parking is $12.00. Rates are subject to change at any time, so check the gate prices before entering the parking garages. For an even easier way to park at Charleston International Airport, pay online for one parking day at their website’s “Park & Go.” When you drive in that day, your space will be waiting for you, as will the free shuttle to take you to the airport.

2. Airport Amenities

At Charleston International Airport, you will have access to the latest and most up-to-date services. For information on the airport, visit the Information Booth, which is located at the main entrance of the main terminal in the atrium. Right next to the Information Booth is a Business Center for all the airport customer’s business needs. When you are in need of some quick cash, use one of the many ATM machines that are located throughout the airport and in the main terminal. A police department is located next to the baggage claim, and you can access help by dialing either 911, or 1-843-767-7005. When you need to know the arrival and departure times of a certain flight, you will find them on the Flight Information monitors that are located throughout the terminal and the concourses. When you need Internet access, Charleston International Airport is there to help you out. At the Business Center, you will be able to hook up your computer and sign onto the Web. 6. Ground Transportation

There are many options for travel out of Charleston International Airport if you do not have a car to drive. Taxis, shuttle services, and cab services are some of those options. They offer both metered and non-metered service for traveling to and from the airport on a 24-hour, 7 days a week basis. For the first two passengers in a taxi, the meter fare is $2.15 per mile. A fee of $12.00 per person after the first two will be charged. The airport also offers a shuttle, the Peninsular Charleston. The rate for this mode of transportation is $12.00 per passenger. There is no charge for any babes-in-arms.

A shuttle is also available to access destinations in downtown Charleston from the airport. The downtown shuttle also charges $12.00 per passenger, and makes many stops along the way to ensure a thorough ride for everyone. All rates are subject to change without prior notice, so make sure to check the posted rates at the entrance to each of the areas before committing to a ride.

Car rentals are another option, especially if you are in the city for business and need to be able to get around a lot. At carrentals.com you can find cars for less than $9.00 a day to drive. Charleston International Airport is located close to many hotels in the area. Many are easily accessed as they are located a mere five miles from the airport itself. 9. Security

Charleston International Airport is kept safe and secure by the Charleston County Aviation Authority Police Department. This department was created back in 1990 with the hopes of enforcing a custom law enforcement agency to respond to the airport community and traveling citizens. Fifteen police officers and one civilian employee make up this special department. This agency has developed into a vital law enforcement operation that partners with the Federal Aviation Administration, commonly known as the FAA, the Airport Authority, and the travelers of the airport. Charleston International wants the safety of their passengers to be their first and foremost concern, and it shows in the care and diligence they employ with their security measures. The Police Department also employs a bike patrol to provide a level of enhanced security throughout the airport. Officers who ride on bike patrols can easily and quickly access emergency situations, are physically conditioned for their job, and have excellent customer relation skills.
