The seventy-hour rule is an attempt to mitigate those effects, and states that a driver cannot drive more than seventy hours in any period of eight consecutive days. On a purely monetary note, remember also that if a driver works more than forty hours in a week or on a holiday, you'll be required by federal law to pay overtime.
