One of the most popular kitchen appliances is the coffee maker. Just about everyone has one, even if they do not drink coffee. If you do drink coffee, then the coffee maker may be your most used kitchen appliance. Every morning you wake up and brew yourself a delicious cup of java. With all that use your machine can get awfully dirty. Most of us think of cleaning the coffee maker as rinsing the pot out with hot water and changing the paper filter. While this is a part of cleaning the machine, it is not sufficient enough to get all the components clean. This article will show you how to clean your coffee maker.

STEP 1:

Pour the cleaning solution into the coffee pot. Now that you have the ingredients for the solution, you will need to pour them into the coffee pot. Do not fill the coffee pot any higher than the highest recommended level. Be sure that you put half vinegar and half water into the pot for the first cleaning session. This will ensure a deep clean.

STEP 2:

Set up your coffee maker. In order to get the inside parts of the coffee maker clean you are going to need to have the solution run through the machine just like you would brew coffee. Pour the vinegar and water mix into the water compartment of the coffee maker. Put the pot back into the holder and put a filter in just like you would when brewing.

STEP 3:

Start your coffee maker. Once everything is set up properly you can go ahead and press the brew or start button on your coffee maker. This will dispense the vinegar and water solution through the entire machine, cleaning each component inside. Once the cycle is completely done you need to let the mixture sit in the pot for at least 20 minutes.

STEP 4:

Run your coffee maker again. Once the first cycle is done and the solution has sat in the pot for 20 minutes, you need to rinse it our thoroughly. Then refill the pot with just water this time and repeat the cycle to flush out all of the vinegar from the machine. These steps should help clean you coffee maker and allow it to brew tastier and fresher coffee.
