Cleaning a Blender

Cleaning a blender is easy, especially if you clean it straight after use. Even if you don't have the time to clean it straight after use, at least pour in this simple cleaning mixture to await your return later.

Steps

  1. Ensure that the blender jug is sitting in the base properly before proceeding. It is easy to forget to screw it back together properly after use.
  2. Add warm water to halfway.
  3. Add one to two drops of dishwashing liquid; if you have a lemon, put in half a lemon, as the lemon rind will scrape off any particles and the juice and rind will eliminate odors.
  4. Plug the blender back into the electrical socket, or switch the powerpoint on.
  5. Place the lid on the blender.
  6. Press the low blend button and allow to blend for up to 30 seconds.
  7. Check that it has caught all the particles.
  8. Pour the liquid down the sink.
  9. Rinse under the faucet. Use cold water.
  10. Place upside down on a dish drying rack to air dry. Wipe down the base with a damp cloth and allow to air dry.

Tips

  • Ensure that the entire appliance is dry before storage.
  • It is always a good idea to wipe the base and wash the jug as quickly as possible after use to avoid hardening and drying of the food or liquid items. This makes it much harder to clean.

Warnings

  • Make sure the spout is closed when you are blending the cleaning liquid.
  • Take care to remove the cord from the power socket before wiping down the base with a damp cloth.
  • Take care when handling the blender blades.
