3. Dealing with Collection Agencies in Massachusetts

It's important to remember that collection agencies are simply trying to get you to pay your bill. Dealing with collection agencies does not have to be scary or nerve racking, instead you can use a calm assertive approach to dealing with them. When they call your home, don't simply ignore their calls. Instead, pick up the phone and deal with them in a straight forward way. If you cannot afford to make any payments just let them know that and then try to let them know when you might be able to make payments.

While collection agencies are out to get your debt paid off as soon as possible, you can actually make the debt collection process work for you. Many times you will be contacted by a contacted agency that wants to collect on a debt that you had forgotten about. This will allow you to address the debts and get them paid off.
