If your computer is acting "sluggish" or giving you frequent errors, then you may be scratching your head in confusion. Why is it behaving this way? Why does it seem to crash all of the time, and why do error messages constantly pop up? Chances are that you do not use proper preventative maintenance procedures on your PC, if these kinds of things are happening all of the time. There are a few things that you can do to repair or optimize your PC that are relatively simple.

The first thing I would do is run a free registry scan to detect errors that are present in your Windows registry. You can go to PerfectOptimizer Registry Cleaner to do a free scan, and if you want to clean your registry immediately you can do that there too.

One thing you can do is run a disk defragmentation on your computer on a regular basis. You can find the disk defragmentation - or "defrag", as it is commonly called - function under your computer's control panel system. The disk defragmentation is a wonderful way to optimize your computer and it helps keep it running efficiently. You should probably try to run the disk defrag at least one time per month, at the minimum. It is a very common repair function for any PC.

Another way to optimize or repair your computer system is by using a Windows registry cleaning program. Available online on many websites, registry cleaning programs optimize your computer by scanning its important Windows registry for errors. These programs identify and pinpoint these errors, then repair or replace the bad files. Keeping your Windows registry clean and free from errors is one of the best ways to keep it running like it is brand new.

Some common things to practice when using a PC on a regular basis, to increase your computer's optimization, include things like removing and uninstalling old programs which you no longer use. At least once a month, go into your computer's control panel and check out Add/Remove Programs option. Go through the list and uninstall any programs which you never seem to use, and do not intend to use. This will free up some space on your PC, and is a simple way to repair it in a preventative manner.

One other great way to optimize your computer is by regularly looking through the files you save under "My Computer". These may be Word documents, picture files, and various other things. You can go through the list periodically and delete any files that you no longer need. This helps free up even more disk space, which helps keep your computer running as efficiently as possible.

Why pay a hefty repair bill when regular, preventative maintenance can keep your computer running in tip top condition?
