The idea of the conference center has taken hold in the hospitality industry. In greater Los Angeles, only a few have the distinction of being members of the prestigious International Association of Conference Centers (IACC). With strict criteria established to serve and promote this growing segment of the industry, conference centers which for years have been very popular in the mid-west and the east coast, are now growing in number on the west coast and are the new favorite facility for progressive meeting planners.

The newest member from Southern California is at the Hilton Long Beach with the opening of its new Executive Meeting Center this spring. This urban training facility is ideally located in downtown Long Beach, halfway between Los Angeles and Orange counties and freeway friendly. Combined with recently renovated guest rooms, a 4,500 square foot heath club, dining options and a rebirth in downtown Long Beach, the Hilton Long Beach & Executive Meeting Center (EMC) is a unique and welcomed addition for conference planners.

Formed in 1981 with just a handful of active members, IACC has grown to include conference centers around the globe. Conference centers offer the most comprehensive and competitive locales and services for the training, education, hospitality and travel industries. They exist for just one purpose: to provide the most productive environment for smaller meetings and they require a host of specialized products and services in order to achieve their mission.

The new IACC approved Hilton Long Beach EMC was developed with an army of experts in lighting, audio-acoustical and audio-visual disciplines. It is a self-contained facility offering 12 conference rooms that vary in size and are designed to reduce fatigue and increase productivity. The center also has a quiet room Library and 88-seat amphitheatre.

All EMC rooms have tackable wall surfaces, non-glare hard writing surfaces, ergonomic chairs suited to all-day sessions, whiteboard surfaces, unobstructed interior views, individual climate controls, business center/concierge and a T4 line for instant Internet access. Plus--private cell phone nooks for in-between session catch-up calls and continuous break stations that are fully stocked with protein rich goodies, fruits, sweets, unlimited bottled water and other high energy food and beverages to keep the brain waves rolling.

Clients of conference centers are many: corporate meetings, in-house training sessions, company retreats and special sessions with motivational speakers and presenters. The Hilton Long Beach & EMC offers the IACC approved all-inclusive packages with meals, breaks and all meeting room needs included in the hotel package pricing system.

As well the new facility, the Hilton Long Beach EMC staff is trained to assist and explore every avenue to make meetings in the new EMC effective, conducive to educating and enjoyable for meeting attendees.

The 15-story Hilton Long Beach Hotel recently completed a two-million dollar renovation. 393 newly-appointed guest rooms, suites, restaurants and lounge were all part of the upgrades. Technology advances include T-1 high-speed Internet access and all new "The Bed" by Hilton for ultimate luxury and comfort.
