YorkCounts will travel to Dover Area High School Nov. 9 for the first in a series of town halls to engage York County residents in a conversation about the work of YorkCounts. “Kids, Truancy and a County at Risk” is the topic for the first three town halls – the next ones will be in January and February – and will focus on the United Way's Stay in School Report, and especially Judge John Uhler's Truancy Task Force work. YorkCounts is partnering with Dover Area School District to present this first town hall, which will start at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Participants include Bob Woods, executive director of the United Way and a board member of YorkCounts; Bev Mackereth, Human Services Director for the County of York; student representatives from Susquehannock High School’s Link Crew program. There will be periods for questions and comments throughout the event. Several service providers will be invited to attend and distribute information relatedto their work with youth. The event is free and open to the public.
