Plastic surgery includes both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. While Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal body parts in order to improve the patient's appearance and self-esteem, Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal body parts in order to improve their functions, and possibly rectify abnormal appearance.

A face lift takes a little longer than the others approximately 3-4 hours. Liposuction is again subjective to what areas need to be worked on. It could be loose hanging flesh all over the body or it could be just one body part; so it could take 1-4 hours or even longer. Nose augmentation or rhinoplasty takes about an hour as compared to a nose reduction which could take 1-2 hours.
