Plastic surgery includes both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. While Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal body parts in order to improve the patient's appearance and self-esteem, Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal body parts in order to improve their functions, and possibly rectify abnormal appearance.

It could be loose hanging flesh all over the body or it could be just one body part; so it could take 1-4 hours or even longer. Nose augmentation or rhinoplasty takes about an hour as compared to a nose reduction which could take 1-2 hours.
