No matter if your company is big or small, you should have a press kit. Reporters will ask for your press kit so that they can write great articles about your company, so it's important to put some time into how you create your press kits. If you follow these steps, you can save yourself some money by creating a quality press kit by yourself.

STEP 1:

Start with a company bio. Introduce your company by writing a summary about it. A one-page bio about your company, including information about the people who run it (including officers, managers and executives) will inform readers about the backbone of your business. Mention official titles, background, belief statements, and pictures for each person you mention.

STEP 2:

Gather any recent press releases. As you create your press kit, you should also include any recent press releases and positive sell sheets about your company. You want to give a good impress of your corporation, so ensure that all of your inclusions in your press kit speak of your company in a positive way.

STEP 3:

Include a company newsletter. Give reporters an inside look at your company by including a company newsletter in your press kit. If you don't have one, you can make a quick one on any laser printer. It should include basic information and facts along with any upcoming events.

STEP 4:

Create a summary letter. One final addition to your press kit is an informative letter about the contents of your press kit, much like a table of contents in the form of a letter. Mention each of the inclusions to be found in the press kit, and also give contact information on how to obtain further information.

STEP 5:

Print out your press kit. It's worth the expense of a high-quality printer to make your press kit look good. Spend the extra money having your press kit professionally printed. Your local print store likely has many options to choose from when it comes to paper, color and print quality too. Give off a good impression by going with higher-quality materials when printing your press kits.

STEP 6:

Assemble your press kit. Once you've got all of your paperwork written and back from the printers, you're ready to assemble your press kits. Your local print shop might be willing to do this for you at an extra cost, but if you only need a few, consider doing it yourself. Don't forget to include a business card in the press kit, ideally one with a picture on it. Keep a good quantity of press kits around so that you'll have them when you need them. And be sure to update them every few months so that reporters and the media will have the best understanding of your company.
