Crockett Texas is located in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Our town is located approximately 1 ½ hrs. from a major airport and we have a small airport for the aviation traveler. We have a wonderful forest that is a “bird watcher’s paradise” and a beautiful lake that is the “hidden treasure of our county” with both fishing and water sports. The Texas Parks and Wildlife is well represented with several parks in our area. Houston County has the wonderful opportunity to be close to the Caddoan Indian Mounds and Mission Tejas, which are archaeological dreams. We offer several festivals in our area: February – is the Lovefest in Lovelady; April 17th, 18th and 19th is the Swing Fest in Crockett; June 13th and 14th is the World Famous Fidders Festival and Steak Cook off; August 8th, 9th and 10th is the Hunting Expo; October is the Peanut Festival in Grapeland. We also have a Texas Opry performance the 1st Saturday of each month at the Crockett Civic Center featuring Dennis Ivey and the Ivey Baker Band (www.txopry.com). Our fine arts are well represented with the Piney Woods Fine Arts Association and they bring world famous talent to our area (www.pwfaa.org).
