2. What are Custom Homes?

Custom homes are, simply put, homes that you build yourself. Not physically build yourself, naturally; that would be asking a lot of most of us! But custom homes are chosen from scratch and build according to your specifications. Depending on the level of customization that you choose to employ, this may range from selecting your chosen design and plot of land all the way up to creating a bespoke accommodation for yourself and your family entirely from scratch. Custom Homes can also entail finding your ideal plot of land, working with an architect to design a home based on your exact needs and desires, constructed from your preferred materials and decorated and furnishing the home to your specifications.

3. Why Build a Custom Home?

Building custom homes is becoming increasingly popular as homeowners become somewhat jaded with the perceived lack of choice on offer. The attraction of customizing your own home to your own vision of how you want to live is obvious. Building a custom home gives you the opportunity to build the perfect house for your family – whatever your budgetary constraints may be.

How many of us have not thought that there were some aspects of our homes that we would like to change, but can’t? Perhaps you’d like a bigger kitchen, with room for the whole family to have their breakfast around the table. No more compromises – no more buying an imperfect home because you like the area, or making a mental note while looking round a show home that you’re going to change this or knock through that to make the living space just a bit more convenient.

4. Different Types of Custom Homes

In a sense, it’s meaningless to talk of the different types of custom homes or the different styles of luxury homes available; by definition, every custom home and luxury home is different, because it’s tailored precisely to your own needs and vision. But it is true to say that, there are certain general kinds of custom homes that you can go for; which type you choose will depend on factors like budget, available space, and any special requirements or preferences that you may have.

Custom homes or luxury homes are available in many different basic designs from which you can then deviate, adding or taking away elements as you see fit, or changing the floor plan to suit your needs. Custom homes can be small or large, one floor or more, split level or chalet style. A custom beach home can be a superb choice for those looking for a second property for holidays or weekends; you could build and then rent out your beachfront property to turn it into a valuable source of income. In colder climates, a traditional A-frame custom home will keep your family in comfortable, climate-controlled surroundings the whole year round.

The beauty of choosing to build a custom home is that you can adapt it to suit not only your family’s needs, but also the environment and landscape around you. Build your home to face the summer sun, or take in spectacular mountain views if you’re lucky enough to live in a state that has them. Small things like this can add considerably to your quality of life – and add to the resale value of your property, too.
