In vivo and in vitro experiments show that Da Qing Ye has an inhibitory effect on Bacillus coli O111B4. In vitro experiments show that even after being diluted 64 times, 1% solution of Da Qing Ye's chloroform-based extract still can destroy endotoxin. In vivo experiments show that Da Qing Ye-treated endoxin (40EU/kg) loses its typical heat-inducing activity in rabbits. Da Qing Ye can also inhibit the formation of micro-thrombus in the glomerulus of rabbits with endotoxic disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).( 2),( 3)
Da Qing Ye has a moderate inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus A, Diplococcus meningitidis, streptococcus pneumoniae, catarrhalis, Typhoid bacillus, Bacillus coli, influenza bacillus, Bacillus diphtheriae and Bacillus dysenteriae. It also has an inhibitory effect on encephalitis B, parotitis, and influenza.( 4),( 5),( 6)
In experiments on croton oil-induced ear swelling in mice, Da Qing Ye solution was administered to the subjects via stomach perfusion, 1ml each time, twice a day, for 3 consecutive days. The results show that Da Qing Ye has a significant anti-inflammatory effect.( 7)
Experiments show that administered to mice by intravenous injection, Da Qing Ye can significantly increase the super-oxide dismutase (SOD) level, and significantly lower the lipid peroxide (LPO) level in the subjects. And studies of Da Qing Ye extract's effect of resisting active oxygen using H 2O 2-CTMAB-luminol luminous system show that the herb has a dose-dependent effect of resisting H 2O 2.( 8),( 9)
Experiments show that administered to mice by abdominal injection, Da Qing Ye can significantly strengthen the phagocytic function of the subjects' abdominal macrophages, significantly increasing the phagocytic rate and the phagocytic index. Administered to mice by intragastric perfusion, Da Qing Ye increases the content of serum lysozyme.( 10)
