Center for Wildlife, one of New England"s largest wildlife rehabilitation and education facilities, is hosting a community event, "Wild About Our Community" on Sunday, September 13, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The educational event features live animal natural history programs by CFW staff, environmental presentations by representatives from other area conservation organizations (White Pine Programs, York Land Trust, Great Works Regional Land Trust, ARQ Architects, York County Audubon, Youth Enrichment Center at Hilton-Winn Farm, Mt. A Conservation, Revision Energy), bird releases, storytelling, hands-on children’s learning activities and crafts, raffles, food, exhibits, and more! Visitors may drive to the center or take a shuttle trolley which will run from the York District Court House, 11 Chases Pond Road in York, starting at 10:45am until 2:20pm. Get a close-up view of native wildlife and learn how you can support the many wild species that live around us! The Center is located at 385 Mountain Road in Cape Neddick, ME, just before the entrance to Mt. Agamenticus summit. Parking along Mountain Road is available but limited; therefore visitors are encouraged to take the trolley to tread more lightly on the environment. Attendance is limited; tickets are $7.50 per person, $15 per couple, or $20 per family of up to 5 people and will be available for purchase at the Trolley and at the Center for Wildlife on the day of the event. 100% of entry donations benefit CFW’s mission to build a sustainable future for our native wildlife. Beginning on August 15th, a limited number of tickets will be available for purchase in advance at a reduced price ($5/person; $10/couple; $15/family) first-come first-serve on CFW's website www.yorkcenterforwildlife.org, or by calling the CFW at 207-361-1400. The first 250 ticket purchasers will be automatically entered in a drawing for a mountain bike from Berger's Bike Shop. Additional tickets for the bike raffle will be on sale for $10 each.
