Whether you are a teenager or an adult wanting to start driving for the first time, enrolling in a Driver's Education course is an important step toward getting your license. This article will direct you on how to enroll in a Driver's Education course as well as the many different places where they are available.

  1. A great place to start when searching for a driver's education course is your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office. Many DMV offices in both large and small cities offer driver's education courses. If your local DMV does not offer courses, they can more than likely direct you to a state-approved program. Enrolling in a state-approved program ensures that your driver's education course certificate will be accepted when going to apply for your learner's permit or driver's license. Very few DMV offices that provide driver's education courses do so free of charge; most will have fees in the $30-$50 range.

  2. Another great resource, especially if you want a quick reference for comparing many different driver's education courses, is to look in your local Yellow Pages. Many schools or companies that offer Driver's Education courses advertise in the Yellow Pages. If you are having trouble locating courses in your Yellow Pages, try looking under the headings for "Traffic School" or "Driving Instruction." Some of the businesses you call will allow you to enroll over the phone and others will require you to visit their locations. Make sure once again to verify that the program you choose is state-approved before paying any fees. Prices you will find from companies listed in the Yellow Pages will vary from $30-$60 in most cases (some you may find will be higher, but seldom will they be lower).
