Many companies you know have generous employee giving programs. A large number of these firms are known to have even more generous matching policies that could help add to the total donation of the employees and the firm itself. If you are the head of an organization that needs funds, then one way of securing consistent funding for your cause is to become a beneficiary of these companies that give donations generously.

You can first look up all the larger companies in your area. Then you could build up relationships with these companies. Look for personal friends or acquaintances that have good connections with these firms. They could give you recommendations. Then you can also build personal relationships with these organizations, slowly introducing your cause, inviting company representatives over to your office, and showing how your organization works to help and protect others. Working closely with the Human Resources Department will help your cause. This department is responsible for mobilizing employee giving programs, so establishing close ties with these departments from different companies will go a long way in helping promote your cause and obtaining funding.

Go on and write to these organizations. Introduce your cause to them with the message that protecting your cause and making your group progress will only materialize with their help. Invite company representatives to your groups special events so that they will see for themselves how your group works. Also, it would be worth your while to match the cause of the organization to the donation philosophies of companies. For instance, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is very active in supporting causes that work to fight urban poverty, to improve the health of the community, and to provide facilities that will aid in education, especially of younger children.

Therefore you will have to create your own effective public relations program that will reach out to these donor organizations. Your work will speak for your organization, but sometimes what is needed is that little push so that your group will be seen and heard. Sometimes, these donor organizations listen to their major donors, and other members who are influential. It would be worth your time to seek audiences with these influential donors and members so that they can help you when seeking a donation from the organization itself.

You could also become enlisted as an organization under the United Way. It is quite difficult to get listed under the umbrella of the United Way, but sizeable donations may be obtained through once you are under its wing.

Lastly, it would be very essential for you to take a close look at your own organization. Is your cause a priority for potential donors? Are you looking at being able to promote long-lasting and significant change in your area or community? These are but a few of the questions that the potential donors and their employees will have for your organization. So be ready with your answers, and be ready to explain your cause.
