  1. Turn to your local business association or chamber of commerce. One of the advantages of being a part of the local association is that you have a built-in connection with employment agencies and other types of recruiting firms that are in your area. This networking opportunity allows you to get a snapshot ofany recruiting agency that appears to be a good fit for you, by checking out the background information provided to the association. This can often help you see immediately which of the recruiting agencies in your area has experience in successfully placing persons in positions that are similar to those you currently have open.

  2. If there is not a recruiting firm in your immediate area, turn your attention to recruiting firms that are based in neighboring metropolitan areas. Often a recruiting firm will cover a larger geographic section than just the city where it is based. Recruiting firms will maintain a database of qualified persons who live within your area, or who have indicated their willingness to move into your town. In some ways, this may be more desirable than utilizing a recruiting firm in your town, as it will provide you with a larger pool of potential personnel.
