If your doctor has told you that you have endometriosis, then you have a condition that relatively common in women. This problem occurs when the tissue that lines the uterus grows outside of the uterus and into other areas. If you haven't seen your doctor and you aren't sure that you have this disease, then you need to schedule an appointment with your gynecologist who can examine you, run some tests and determine whether or not you have endometriosis.

Doctors don't know for sure what causes endometriosis, but it appears to be genetic. There is ongoing research in this area that is helping doctors to glean more insight and to find better treatments for endometriosis.
