5.1 (Dolby Digital Audio Codec) - A way of encoding audio into six different channels through left, right, center, left surround, right surround, and subwoofer speakers.

35 mm - A standard film size in the movie industry.

Allocated - Many aspects are taken into account to decide which theater will receive which movie, such as size and location of the theater, studio license, etc. Therefore, when a film is allocated, these factors are assessed so the correct theater will receive the correct movie.

Audio Conferencing - In audio conferencing, a third party outside the auditorium can hear the presentation through an analog phone line. The conference can be a two-way or one-way communication.

Auditorium - A room in a theater with stadium seating for viewing movies, multi-media presentations, live presentations or other content; may be used as a meeting room facility.

Big House - The term used to describe the largest auditorium in a theater.

Booth Manager - The person responsible for the 35 mm film and care of the DCN network. He or she has extensive knowledge about the projection booth equipment.

Christie L-6 - A high-end multi-media digital projector used for displaying non-film content. These projectors are rated at 5200 Lumens with a contrast ratio of 600:1.

Christie Vivid Green - A type of multi-media digital projector used to display content from an outside source, such as a laptop, DVD, Beta SP, etc. These projectors are rated at 3600 Lumens with a contrast ratio of 300:1.

CineMeetings House - An auditorium wired with audio and visual technology for the delivery of multi-media presentations; ideal for an event meeting room.

Closed Circuit Broadcast - A term used to describe one presentation displayed in one or more auditoriums where the video feed is broadcast only in the theater.

Concession Combos (Snack Packs) - A term used to describe bundled combinations of theater-style snacks and beverages.

Digital Content Network (DCN) - A proprietary digital satellite network capable of distributing content to CineMeetings & Events theaters.

Digital Content Software (DCS) - The software used to run the DCN.

Discount Movie Tickets - Movie tickets are available to our corporate customers at a reduced price (with a 50-ticket minimum).Ask your sales representatives for more details.

Downlink - In satellite telecommunication, a downlink is the link from a satellite down to one or more ground stations or receivers.

Event Consultant - A member of our sales team dedicated to helping you plan and execute the perfect event.

Event Operations (Ops) - The technical and logistical management team for all of CineMeetings & Events.

Event Specialist (Project Coordinator) - The Event Specialist communicates with the client to verify all event details and manages all changes to the scope of the event after the event is contracted. He or she works closely with the Site Representative, caterers, rental companies and the technology team to plan for all audio visual and technical aspects of the event. They also communicate with and manage any theater staff assigned to work during the event.

Film Booker - This person makes decisions on which movies will go into which theaters and/or when a movie will be pulled from theaters. They also inform the theaters on how to schedule films according to license agreements with film studios.

Final Guarantee - The final attendance number for catering.

First Run - The first time a film is released to local theaters.

Four Wall Rental - The rental of wall-to-wall space within a theater auditorium.

Handoff - Once an event has been contracted and all event details have been finalized, the CineMeetings & Events salesperson will “hand-off” the event to the Event Specialist. The Event Specialist will manage the event from handoff through execution and post-event recap.

High Definition (High Def or HD) - The new wave in image display with a wider image and a higher resolution than standard definition; 1080i and 720p is the resolution displayed in a High Definition image compared with 480i and 480p in a Standard Definition image.

Image Magnification (IMAG) - A term used when a camera lens is zoomed to magnify the image.

Interlock - Simultaneously showing one film in two auditoriums.

Lav mic. - A wireless microphone that clips onto a lapel or shirt.

Left Total/Right Total (LtRt or Dolby Pro Logic) - A way of encoding audio into four different channels (left, right, center and combined surrounds).

Marquee - Outdoor signage that displays current movie titles playing at a theater.

Mic - Short for microphone.

Multi-Site Event - An event held simultaneously and/or on the same day at multiple sites.

Mylar - Signage posted above auditorium doors identifying the name of the movie or event inside.

National Account Manager - A member of our national sales force who consults with clients to plan meetings, events and seminars.

Network Control Center (NCC or NOC) - The operations center responsible for maintaining the DCN.

Networked Event - An event in which one theater is used to deliver content to other theaters in our network.

Patch Into In-House Sound - The process of linking audio from another source (such as a laptop, DVD or CD) into a theater’s audio system.

Peak Movie Hours - These are hours that are busiest for our theaters. Peak hours are generally 6 p.m. to midnight from Monday through Thursday and noon to midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Print - A physical copy of a 35 mm film or movie.

Private Screening - A movie that is shown privately for a specific group of people at a pre-arranged time.

Public Screening - A movie that is open to public viewing.

Regal Broadcast Network (RBN) - A proprietary satellite network that can display High Definition or Standard Definition content.

Road Show - An event that features the same content and is held at multiple sites over multiple dates.

Run Time - The elapsed time of a movie.

Satellite Broadcast - An event that features the same content and is simultaneously broadcast to multiple sites over our satellite network.

Satellite Feed - The actual content that is sent from the production site to the satellite during a broadcast.

Single-Site Event - One event held at one site.

Site Representative (Site Rep) - On the day of the event, this person is responsible for communicating with Event Operations and for coordinating the client, theater staff and all vendors in the successful execution of an event.

Standard Catering - The term used to describe the continental breakfast or box lunch selections provided by local caterers that are not part of a national chain.

Standard Definition (SD) - An image that is used by the National Television Standards Committee (NTSC) which is a 4x3 aspect ratio making it a square image.

Theater - A building containing auditoriums used for the presentation of films or other content or for use for corporate meeting rooms, business meeting rooms or church meeting spaces.

Trailers - A short film clip often shown in theaters or on television to promote upcoming movies.

Uplink - In satellite telecommunication, this term is used to describe the link from a ground station up to a satellite.

VGA - Laptop Resolution Standard (1024x768); the number of pixels that is displayed on the screen horizontally by vertically.
