According to Wikipedia, Georgia is one of the nation’s fastest growing states. With a subtropical climate, and a geography ranging from mountain range to coast, Georgians have year-round access to a variety of outdoor activities. And numerous premier educational institutions and corporations call the state home. No wonder so many people have Georgia on their minds.

Georgia has drawn thousands of new residents enjoying much more than picturesque cow-dotted hillsides. Atlanta is a proper metropolis, with almost 5 million people and a number of Georgia’s renowned colleges and universities. You’ll also find educational and cultural prospects across the state, including in the two second-largest cities of Augusta (520,332) and Savannah (313,883). But what in particular does Georgia have to offer those interested in school for film and television?

Camera, Lights, Atlanta
With his CNN Center headquarters located in Atlanta, Georgian Ted Turner has created remarkable opportunities for those in television broadcasting school. The Weather Channel also keeps its headquarters in the area. Several local colleges and universities offer degrees in film and television. At one particularly distinguished private university, you’ll have access to the Woodruff Library, which houses notable research materials for the film student, such as microfilm copies of Motion Picture Daily, Motion Picture Herald, Variety, Cinema Pressbooks of the Studio Era, and others.

Headed Down the Atlanta Highway
Just east of Atlanta lies the college town of Athens, home of several famous rockbands, including REM and the B52's. Here, you’ll stroll the streets of a charming historic town and discover the state’s flagship university, offering programs of study in both film and television. The university has received international attention for many of its activities, including hosting the world famous George Foster Peabody Awards for the best in broadcast media. Recently, The Wallstreet Journal named the university one of its 16 "Hot Schools."

Power to the People
Would you like to keep Public Broadcasting alive and kicking? If so, you might enjoy launching your career in Georgia, where you’ll enjoy plenty of support and opportunities. The peach state runs nine state-wide educational television stations, and, what’s more, Georgia maintains several public radio stations as Georgia Public Rasdio.

Anyone interested in film and television school should consider studying in Georgia. After all, the state offers residents a pleasant lifestyle with exciting career possibilities and exceptional opportunities in TV and film. What could be peachier?
