Whether you are a new or long term franchisee I am sure that you want nothing but success for your franchise. After all you are putting lots time, money, energy, passion and effort into your business. You would be crazy not to, since money makes the world go round and you want to be a part of it. Also if your business is successful you will most likely feel successful as well. You may be very smart and know your stuff which is imperative in running and owning your own franchise. However, you will need to exhibit one other important quality; leadership. You need to be the leader of your franchise for yourself and your employees. You need pave the path to success for your franchise.

You want to ensure that your franchise carries on the values of your franchisor. Your franchisor most likely has a set of values that you are required to maintain in your franchise. Since you are the person who decided to start the franchise, you will need to pass these values to your employees. You will need to take the lead and show them what is expected by doing not just saying.

It is also important that take control of your success. You will need to lead your employees to the path you want them on. If you do not lead them then they will make their own path or follow someone else's path. You want them on your path since that is the one that will lead you to success! For example if you want them to always practice great customer service you need to first of all make that clear and known. Then you need to practice it yourself every day. Then if someone is not doing as you expect you need to appropriate correct them and explain again what you expect. If you do not take the lead, you may end up going towards failure rather than success.

You must be willing to take action! Like the example above, if you don't take action it will not happen.

You need to be able to communicate clearly with those you work with. If they do not know what you want, how are they supposed to do what you want? Do not be vague when you make a decision.

You must also gain the trust you work with and around. You must always deal fairly in all situations you come across.

Dealing with your employees can be hard at times. You will need to control your emotions. If someone sets you off, you cannot just lose your temper and start yelling and screaming. You will the respect of that employee and the others.

Be humble. Just because you own the place doesn't make you god! You should have a little humility and know that you are not better or worse than anyone there. By this you will set a great tone and atmosphere for yourself and your employees. Happy employees are more willing to go the extra mile for you!

You must be open and creative! If you are not open to new ideas and suggestions your success will be short lived. Also be creative, try to see things in a new light. If you see something that no one has yet seen, you may have struck gold with your success in franchise.

Lastly, have a sense of humor. No one enjoys working with a grump, not even the grump himself.

Keep your franchise successful by being a great leader for it!
