Beverage stains are one of the most common stains that you will encounter and three major beverages combine for almost all of the major stains. The three major culprits are juices, pops or sodas, and coffee. These types of stains can be very difficult to remove and can result in a lot of frustration if you don't know the exact method for removing beverage stains. As a rule of thumb it is always easier to remove stains right after they have happened as this reduces the ability for the stain to set.

The first thing you should attempt to do when you notice that you have a beverage stain is to use a cloth or a paper towel to blot up any excess liquid that hasn't been absorbed into the material yet. Next you should use a mild soap detergent mixed with water on the affected area to treat the stain. After three or four minutes of application you should again attempt to blot out the stain.

If the stain has still persisted, like some of them do, you should try treating the infected area using vinegar. The vinegar will usually react with most types of stains and will enable you to completely remove the stain from the clothing. About 10 or 15 minutes after you have applied the vinegar you should again attempt to blot whatever remains of the stain using a cloth. If you still haven't fully removed the stain you should move onto the final step in the beverage stain removal process.

The last major technique you can try to remove a beverage stain is blotting the stain using alcohol. This technique will help break down the stain after you have applied the alcohol for five to ten minutes. Once you have applied the alcohol you will need to blot the stained area using lukewarm water until the stain has been fully removed.
