1. Chest discomfort is the common symptom of a heart attack in both men and women. The discomfort can come and go, or it may linger. 2. If you are having a heart attack, you may have discomfort or pain in other areas of your body. The pain is usually in the upper body and can center around the neck, jaw, arms, back or even the stomach.
   
   

3. Nausea, dizziness and breaking out in a cold sweat are also common symptoms of heart attacks in women. Women also seem to experience nausea/vomiting and shortness of breath more than men during a heart attack.
   
   

4. You should be aware that silent heart attacks account for up to one fourth of all heart attacks. Silent attacks occur with no symptoms and are more common in women, especially those with diabetes. The only way to know that you may have suffered a silent heart attack is through an electrocardiogram.
