DCCCA Inc. began as a small outpatient alcohol and drug treatment program in Lawrence, Kansas. Over the years, it has grown into a provider of quality education, prevention and treatment services for individuals and families across the State of Kansas.

For over thirty years, DCCCA has provided a variety of human services and played an active role in helping clients improve their quality of life.
What does DCCCA stand for?

DCCCA began operations in Lawrence, Kansas in the summer of 1974 as the Douglas County Citizens Committee on Alcoholism. Over the years, we became known locally as DCCCA. In 1989, our legal name was changed to DCCCA by our Board of Directors. This change was prompted by our program delivery outside of Douglas County and our program growth to include services for problems other than alcoholism.

Some people say their use alcohol and drugs is “recreational” but they fail to talk about the consequences of their alcohol and drug use. It is natural to avoid pain and to seek pleasure. Alcohol and drug use disorder self-medicates physical pain, negative emotions and dysfunctional relationships. Alcohol and drug use disorder can impair judgment resulting in poor health, relationship conflicts, loss of income, sex disorder and legal problems.

Treatment begins through understanding the biological, psychological and social process to recover from alcohol and drug use disorder (bio-psychosocial). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) restructures irrational thinking to solve problems and improve the quality of life without the use of alcohol or drugs.

Valley Hope drug and alcohol rehab is a nationally recognized, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality drug and alcohol treatment services at an affordable price. We started in a leased building on the campus of a state hospital in Norton, KS in August, 1967. Valley Hope now operates treatment facilities in seven states-- Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
We encourage family participation because they have been affected and need help too. Our hope is to educate and offer a drug rehab experience focused on healing as a family. We have helped thousands of people (and their family members) find recovery and a new way of life.
We offer a variety of drug and alcohol treatment services, including medically monitored detox, residential, day/partial, outpatient and continuing care. Our quality treatment services are comprehensive and offered at a reasonable cost. We'll find the right combination to provide the best drug or alcohol rehab treatment for each individual. Our admissions coordinators are available to provide information and answer questions.
We offer a proven treatment program with the focus on individual recovery. All of our residential and outpatient centers are JCAHO accredited and state licensed/certified. Professional staff direct an individualized treatment plan grounded in 12-step philosophy with a strong emphasis on family participation, spirituality (nondenominational), and continuing care placement. Alcohol and drug rehab rates for our services are affordable enough that many individuals choose to pay for their own treatment. Our services are recognized and accepted by most insurance companies and managed care organizations.
Our Mission
Our Mission is to provide a quality continuum of comprehensive drug and alcohol treatment and related services, in a caring atmosphere and at a reasonable price, for all people experiencing problems with alcohol or other drug use.
The purpose of providing those drug and alcohol rehab services is to improve the quality of life of those receiving services as measured by abstinence from alcohol and other substances, as well as by increased life satisfaction, improved family relationships, marital stability, job and career performance and financial stability. This Mission may be pursued in any geographic location, limited only by need and Valley Hope's ability to respond to that need.
