In order keep your drains free of clogs and odors you should periodically clean the drains for your sink. Cleaning your sink drains will also make your sink work better and look better as well.
Many of the things you can use to clean a sink drain are household items.

Some of the things you will need to clean the drains are:

Vinegar
Lemon Juice
Rock Salt
Measuring Cup
Baking Soda
Drain Cleaners

Here are some steps you can take when cleaning your drains

Run hot water down the drain after every time you use the drain. This is one of the ways that you can keep your drain odor free. When using your drain try not to get pieces of vegetables and grease in the drain. If your drain does become clogged immediately clean it.

Take a cup of baking soda and pour it into the drain. Do this weekly and then after the baking soda pour some hot water down the drain. You can also pour one cup of vinegar down the drain, waiting a half hour, and then pouring hot water down the drain. This will also keep your drains free of odors.

To keep odors from your drain and keep it from grease build up pour some salt brine down the drain.

Look into purchasing a strong drain cleaning solution, carefully read the label and make sure it will be safe for the pipes or garbage disposal you have. These types of cleaners can eat away at food particles, grease, hair, soapy film, and various other wastes that travel down your drain. You should pour these types of cleaners down your drain once a month, but follow the instructions on the label.

You can also make a natural drain cleaner if you do not want to use any chemicals. Pour a half a cup of baking soda down the drain and then a half a cup of vinegar. This will make a reaction as baking soda is basic and vinegar is acidic. This will churn through your drain removing anything that has built up inside it.

If you are having trouble clearing the drains and there are persistent odors you may want to call a professional plumber. If you find tree roots growing in the drains in your house immediately call a plumber so they do not grow making the problems worse.

TIP:

In order to prevent tree roots from entering the drains in your house you can flush 2 cups of either rock salt or copper sulfate down your toilet when you flush it the last time during the evening. In order to make sure these two things make it down the drain you may have to flush your toilet a few times. Never mix these products thinking it will do a better job. After you flush one of these products down the drain wait a couple of weeks, repeat the process, and then wait a half a year before you do it again.
