The idea of Vinegar being a household cleaning item may seem strange to some, but those who know of its wonders will tell you it is the best thing to have for cleaning, odor control, fabric softening and much more. Yes, you read that correctly, oh, and not to mention hair conditioner, meal preparations, ant control, stain remover, lime build-up eliminator, etc.

The following is a list a few of the little known uses for regular old 97 cents a gallon white vinegar:

Clothing stain remover - for removing grass, coffee, tea, fruits and berry stains, use full strength white vinegar to soak the clothes.

Carpet spot and stain remover - mix 1 part white vinegar with 7 parts water and saturate the stained area with the mixture letting it sit for a few minutes. Blot dry and then use a fan to quickly air dry. Great at removing the smell from pet urine too.

Air deodorizer - get a spray bottle and fill with 2 cups water, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1 tablespoon vinegar. Mix well. Once the foaming stops fill the bottle and spray around to eliminate pet odors, smoke smell, burnt food odor and more.

Mosquito and Flea repellent - add a tablespoon of cider vinegar to drinking water to relieve stress and repel mosquitoes. Also use to rinse the pets after bathing to repel fleas. Poor vinegar around the sides of your pool to keep flies away. Mix 1 teaspoon in your horses feed to repel flies as well.

No-Wax Floor cleaner - use ½ cup vinegar with a gallon of water to clean and shine. Also use this mixture to wash windows and then use newspaper to wipe off and dry.

Fabric softener - use the same way as regular liquid softener (in the last rinse cycle) and not only will your fabrics come out soft and clean but the static cling will be eliminated too.
