You may be able to tolerate a few dust bunnies under your bed or some dust on your shelves and pictures, but no one should have to deal with a grimy, dirty bathroom.  You should clean your bathroom at least once a week, more if you have a big family and they mainly use one bathroom.

Thankfully, in today's world, most bathrooms are made up of easy to clean surfaces.  If you don't let dirt and scum build up on them, then tile and porcelain surfaces are fairly stain-resistant.  You need to make it a rule in your house that everyone who uses the tub or shower, should rinse it out afterwards.  Have them spray water from the showerhead on all the interior surfaces and then lather a damp sponge with soap and wipe off the tub or stall, then rinse all the soap off.

Depending on what type of surface your bathroom counter tops are made of, there are different ways to care for and clean your surfaces.  If you have cultured marble for your counter tops, then it is fairly easy to care for.  Don't use any abrasives on the surface because they will scratch them.  If you have laminate surfaces, then a light layer of furniture wax will protect and brighten your counter top.

To clean your plastic laminate counter tops, use a double sided cleaning pad.  It should have fiber on one side and a sponge on the other.  Moisten it with water and scrub the surface with the fiber side, then wipe clean with the sponge side.  If you have a spot or stain that just won't come up, sprinkle a little baking soda on it and gently scrub it.  This should take care of the problem, if not, then apply a small amount of a polishing cleaner to it with a wet sponge.

Next, you will want to clean your bathroom mirrors with a good glass cleaner or you can use a mixture of vinegar water.  It will clean just as good as a store bought product.  For a streak-free shine, wipe the mirrors off with newspaper.

Wipe your showers down with a towel after every use.  This will keep mildew at bay.  You may even want to spray it with a disinfectant in order to take care of any mildew problems and leave your shower door ajar so that air can circulate.  This can prevent the growth of mildew.  Vinegar water is good for more than just glass.  It is also good at getting rid of hard water stains on your shower stalls and if you mix a cup of fabric softener with a quart of warm water, you will be able to loosen up
that pesky soap scum from your shower doors.

Always clean your with a nonabrasive powder or liquid cleaner.  Just apply it to your dampened sponge and scrub the tub.  To complete this process, you will want to clean your shower curtain and bath mat.

Next, you will want to tackle the most dreaded task of all, cleaning the toilet.  Always wear rubber gloves when cleaning your toilet.  Put half of a cup of bleach in your toilet bowl and let it sit for ten minutes to clean and disinfect your toilet, then scrub it with a toilet brush and flush.  Wipe off the outside of the toilet with a liquid nonabrisve cleaner and a damp sponge.  For really tough stains, you can use a steel wool pad.  To finish off your bathroom, sweep and mop the floor and your bathroom will be beautifully clean, at least for a little while anyway.

WARNING: Make sure to work with chemicals in a well ventilated area when cleaning your bathroom.  Also make sure to wear gloves or any other recommended safety equipment when dealing with chemicals to prevent injuries or illnesses.
