- Decide if you really need a new one or not? Is yours broken, or not work, or do you just want the newer version?
- Gradually complain that yours has a really short battery, takes a long time to load pictures, drops calls all the time. Be prepared to back up these statements.
- You can use the following method if your parents aren't too tech savvy
- take a clear piece of tape, and cut it down to the size of ONE terminal of your battery, and put it over the terminal
- Re-install the battery and it wont turn on!
- You can also just install the battery backwards.

- If using the tape method, make sure you cant see the tape
Warnings
- Make sure you really need a new phone
- your parents may be strapped for cash, wait for your contract to expire, you can get a new phone when you renew it
- dont actually hurt the phone, you may not get a new one and have to use it for a while!
- If you put a new battery in, the tape method wont work, you can see the tape on the terminals on the phone, but not on the battery
