  1. Decide if you really need a new one or not? Is yours broken, or not work, or do you just want the newer version?
  2. Gradually complain that yours has a really short battery, takes a long time to load pictures, drops calls all the time. Be prepared to back up these statements.
  3. You can use the following method if your parents aren't too tech savvy
  4. take a clear piece of tape, and cut it down to the size of ONE terminal of your battery, and put it over the terminal
  5. Re-install the battery and it wont turn on!
  6. You can also just install the battery backwards.
Tips
  • If using the tape method, make sure you cant see the tape
Warnings
  • Make sure you really need a new phone
  • your parents may be strapped for cash, wait for your contract to expire, you can get a new phone when you renew it
  • dont actually hurt the phone, you may not get a new one and have to use it for a while!
  • If you put a new battery in, the tape method wont work, you can see the tape on the terminals on the phone, but not on the battery
