And don't purchase that new big screen TV until you've been approved for the car loan. Remember that banks are going to consider everything that you owe at that very moment, so don't increase that number before you apply for financing. Make your financial situation seem as ideal as possible by keeping your debts low. Your debt-to-income ratio will stay lower this way.
