Studying is a way to learn. There are no easy ways to study that to just get over the matter. It is part and parcel of school survival. You have to device your own plans on how to study effectively. True, studying is boring. That is why you need to organize so you can still study effectively no matter what subject you need to learn.

Here are some tips you can consider:

Determine your peak hours of absorption

Each of us has our own peak hours of absorption. By this I mean the hours wherein we take in and remember all that we are studying. It is somewhat fruitless to study during the times that nothing can be absorbed. You should be able to observe that there are times when you are studying and no matter how much effort you put into the matter, nothing seems to be remembered or understood. Those are the times you should avoid studying. Take for example; I survive best to study between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, before and after those hours, I spend finishing projects, watch TV or just relax the mind. Therefore, my peak hours of absorption are in between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

When taking down notes during class hours, it is best you put them into scratch papers first then transfer them into your notebook during your study time. Personally, I find this effective because when you listen during class, take down notes and transfer them again, it is like studying three times already. This will evoke the power of long term memory. And it would be easier to review later when examination comes.

Find word association or mnemonics to recall easily. If there are important set of words or phrases that you need to remember, associating those words to something you can easily recall is the best thing to do. These mnemonics are memory aids.

If tired, rest.

It is fruitless if you force yourself to study when you are tired. It is also the same with forcing yourself to study when sleepy. It is better to take a break. You need to breathe fresh air and relax the mind once in a while.

If possible use long term memory and not the counterpart short term memory. Short term memory is not advisable to use rather constantly. It is a memory in a nick of time. This is what you achieve when you cram. When you are cramming for exams, you will force your mind to use short term memory and after you get out of the examination room, everything you studied appears to be gone. You can never measure how much effective long term memory is unless you use it often.

These are just but a few suggestions and tips you could follow when studying. You can device your own schedule and schemes that will work perfectly for you. You can do your own stuff as long as you know it is really for you. Take it is a hobby or a fun activity that you need to indulge in.
