You can free feed the dry food because ferrets will not overeat. Ferrets also enjoy vegetables and fruits as a part of their diet. Some examples include bananas, melons, grapes, cucumbers and carrots. Peels such as those on apples should be removed prior to feeding. As a treat, dog treats made for small dogs can be fed. Do not feed nuts or grains as ferrets cannot digest them. Ferrets do no possess teeth that can grind food.
