There is nothing worse than driving to then find out that you have a flat tire. Flat tires always happen when we least expect it and when it’s inconvenient. To make sure that you’re safe when you’re on the road, you want to make sure you know how to change a flat tire. Just incase it is dark and night time and no one is around you will be able to change your tire. Changing a tire is very easy, follow the steps below and your flat will be new in no time.

1. First, you will want to make sure that you are out of traffic, on the side of the road or in a safe spot.

2. Once you are in a safe spot you will want to make sure that you have all your four way lights on. This will let everyone know that you are having car troubles and that the vehicle is not abandoned.

3. Put your vehicle into park and be sure to shut off your vehicle.

4. Now that you’re out of traffic and safe you will want to begin by putting a solid object behind all the tires to make sure they don’t move.

5. Once you’ve place your solid objects behind the tires, you will want to get out your spare tire, a lug nut wrench and a jack to start out.

6. Now you may want to remove the hubcap if necessary. I suggest this because it may tend to get in the way.

7. Loosen all the lug nuts that are currently on your tire. You don’t want to take them off yet, but just loosen them.

8. Now you want to jack up your vehicle. Most owner manuals will tell you where to jack up your care. This will find a safe spot so you can get the best jack up. Try to raise your vehicle just a little bit higher than you would think. By rising it a little bit higher, you are making sure you have room to get change the tire.

9. Now you will want to take out the lug nuts completely. When you take them out be sure to find a safe place to put them so you don’t loose them.

10. You can now remove your flat tire and set it aside. You should be able to simply just take it off.

11. Once you’re tire is removed, you want to lift the wheel onto the wheel studs.

12. Now that you’re new tire is put on you can screw back in the lug nuts. Make sure you screw them in as tight as possible to avoid having them fall out.

13. Your tires should now be on and in place. Now remove the jack from under your vehicle. Slowly lower it and remove it.

14. Now put the hubcap back on (If you took it off).

15. You are now all set. Your flat should be replaced and you are able to get back on the road.

Changing a tire seems hard to do but is it very simple. Simply follow the steps above and you are on your way to a new tire. To make things easier you may want to write down these steps that way when you’re on the road you are able to fix a tire if you are in need.
