Steps

  1. Pick a specific room to hold your Safe Room (SR) This should be a room that is underground. Such as a basement. This is the safest area in your house.
  2. Consider specific things for this room. Sound-proofing, and bomb proofing the room is optional. Sound-proofing the SR is useful if you are afraid of burglars or bombing. Bomb proofing is for bombs and bullets.
  3. Stock your SR with supplies Food, and water should be stocked up for a week, with enough for each person in your house plus 1. Tools should be put in this room too. See the supplies list for details of what should go in.
  4. Make this room comfy! Add games, paints and any other items that you and your family could use when you are down there. Couches, and chairs can be used, to keep comfy. And, pad the floor with carpet. This can make a scary situation seem fun.
  5. Make the SR safer! Install a door with a large and secure lock for winds of Disasters and Gunshots of Burglars. On the roof, consider bolting a bulletproof sheet of metal in-between the floor of the first story and the roof.
