"Tobacco Cessation and Addiction Recovery" will be presented by Jason Schwartz, LMSW; Clinical Director, Dawn Farm; and Matt Statman, CAC-M; Dawn Farm Detox therapist and Dawn Farm Education Series Coordinator. This workshop will describe the prevalence of tobacco addiction among alcoholics and drug addicts, the relationship between tobacco use and recovery, and basic information about how to quit using tobacco. This workshop is part of the Dawn Farm Education Series, a FREE, annual workshop series developed to provide accurate, helpful, hopeful, practical, current information about chemical dependency, recovery, family and related issues; and to dispel the myths, misinformation, secrecy, shame and stigma that prevent chemically dependent individuals and their families from getting help and getting well. Workshops are free and open to anyone interested in attending, including people with alcoholism/addiction, people in recovery, people interested in recovery, family members/friends and others affected by chemical dependency, people who work with chemically dependent individuals, students, people interested in any topic for any reason ¨C ALL ARE WELCOME! Registration is not required. 1.5 hours of free C.E. approved by MCBAP (Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals) is offered for each workshop. A certificate to document attendance is provided on request. The Education Series is organized by Dawn Farm, a non-profit community of programs providing a continuum of chemical dependency services.

Eating Disorders will be presented by Dr. Carl Christensen, MD, Ph.D.; Addictionologist. This program will examine the evidence that eating disorders are true bio-psychosocial diseases, similar to chemical dependency. It will define various eating disorders and their consequences, explore neurobiological theories of addiction, discuss screening tools used for eating disorders, and provide information on treatment options and resources for eating disorders. This workshop is part of the Dawn Farm Education Series.
