This year students heading back to school are packing up their video
games, music collection, TV and DVD player into one laptop that becomes
their all-in-one, space-saving entertainment and computing centre.
(NC)-Paul Wilson, a University of Guelph student, is an avid gamer and owns the hottest games on the market. As the new school year approaches, Paul will get ready to move back to Guelph where he'll be living off campus and he needs a new laptop for his digital needs.
"I'm used to playing games on my parent's high-definition, widescreen TV, but now that I will be living on my own in a small apartment, I need to squeeze as much technology into as little space as possible," explains Paul.
Paul is part of a home entertainment trend - a movement to put all forms of media into digital form to access everything from movies to music to video games to a laptop.
"For the first time, our Qosmio lineup is available in three screen sizes giving consumers the option to choose a machine that best suits their multimedia computing needs, and their budget," said Mini Saluja, Toshiba product manager.
"The Qosmio X300 is amazing, said Paul. "The built-in subwoofer and incredible graphics features are perfect for gaming. This is going to be my gaming unit, stereo system and computer."
In addition to the gaming laptop, Toshiba's Qosmio lineup includes two audio visual personal computers (AVPC) that can replace most home entertainment media devices in one package and can be tucked away to make space when not in use. Convergence friendly, the Qosmio F50 and Qosmio G50 are AVPCs that have the capacity to support all the hardware and functions offered with desktop computers - with wireless capability, web cam, Harmon Kardon speakers, HDMI-CEC ports for full digital connectivity, Toshiba Quad Core HD Processor and a remote control - but are still portable enough to ensure students can take them on the road and out of the dorm when necessary.
