Description:
This workshop will provide an introduction to accounting terminology and definitions used in small businesses. You will also learn to read and understand key financial statements, where the data comes from that drives numbers on these statements, and how to use them to improve your financial performance. Record keeping requirements will also be discussed, including an introduction to QuickBooks Accounting Software.

The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce?has a partnership with the Raleigh Chapter of SCORE, America's Counselors to Small Business, to provide free counseling services to the?Wake Forest area business community at the Chamber of Commerce location at 350 South White Street.Counseling services are available for one-hour sessions at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Two SCORE counselors will be available at each session to provide assistance. SCORE, a branch of the Small Business Administration, is a National Organization of retired executives who volunteer their time to assist new and existing small businesses become successful. SCORE also conducts small business workshops throughout the year.Reservations for counseling may be made by calling the Chamber at 556-1519. All information discussed in the sessions is considered strictly confidential and the services may be used as often as clients require. Services are available to both Chamber members and 'not-yet' members.

The Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Durham Technical Community College Small Business Center, has created a program that fits your schedule and connects you with the information you need to run your business.The Small Business Management Institute is designed specifically for the busy business owners and managers in mind. You may sign up for all four sessions or attend individual sessions. A Small Business Management Institute Certificate will be awarded to each participant who completes the full series. The sessions will be held August 27, September 17, October 15 and November 19.
