Oh joy, another Genesis live album. This one captures the band'sfinal three albums with Phil Collins, which were the band's threeweakest albums, coincidentally. That's not a knock to Phil, whosang/drummed on Duke and Abacab, two of the band's best post-Gabriel albums -- it'sjust a fact of life.

The first disc in this set brought the listener up to date onlive renditions of Genesis pop hits from 1983 forward, known astheir commercial years for hits like "Invisible Touch" and "I Can'tDance." This CD captures the longer songs from the We Can't Dance tour, with the intent that this disc willappeal to fans of older progressive Genesis.

It almost succeeds.

The problem is, the longer songs from 1983 forward are nowherenear the quality of the Peter Gabriel-era music. It's good to hearthe band stretching the boundaries of pop with tracks like "FadingLights" and "Domino," mostly because it shows Collins could writegood lyrics when he wanted to. But instead of breaking new ground,the songs are just simple pop themes stretched out to longerlengths.
