Logitech MX1000 Laser cordless mouse Newark DE

Logitech has long been a leader in the 'personal interface products' market, and the first impression of the MX1000 laser mouse is one of a high quality product. The design is very stylish, finished dark blue and black. I especially liked the way the left and right buttons are 'hidden'- the top of the case flexes a little every time you click. This mouse is brimming with features - not only does it have the indispensable scroll wheel and application button, but there's a tilt wheel, a feature called cruise control and back/forward buttons. The tilt wheel allows scrolling left and right by tilting the whole mouse wheel; the cruise control allows rapid scrolling up and down through long documents and the forward and back buttons are clearly aimed at web browser use (although handy in the Windows Explorer environment). This cordless mouse is powered by a fixed lithium-ion battery, which is charged by standing the mouse on its stand.

Previous experience of rechargeable mice was that I had to be fairly diligent with putting the mouse in its house, but the MX1000 has a really excellent life and easily lasted a week of use before the battery indicator started to fall. Part of this surprisingly good battery life may be due to the laser technology employed by the MX1000, with a very low level of light emitted. Logitech boast more accurate tracking and the ability to use on difficult surfaces, such as polished surfaces. I certainly found it very sensitive and it even worked well on a transparent Perspex surface. There is a however, though. This mouse features 'superior grasp with deep sculpted thumb support', which means that left handed users (including your correspondent) will find this mouse very awkward to use. It's a great shame that this excellent mouse will not appeal to 1 in 7 potential customers; despite its high performance and excellent features, this lefty could not live with this rodent.
