Dosage
Decoction 10-15g.
Chemical Composition
Long Gu is mainly composed of CaCO3, Ca3(PO4)2. (1),(2),(3),(4)
Inorganic Chemicals
Fe, K, Na, Cl, Se, Hg, Al, Mn, Pb, Zn, Cu, and Sulfates.
Precautions
Exercise caution when administering to patients of damp-heat syndromes.
Pharmacology
Sedative-hypnotizing effects
Experiments on mice show that administered at 20ml/kg, the 20% suspension of Long Gu, Long Chi and Hua Rui Shi can significantly increase the rate of pentobarbital sodium-induced hypnotism.
Anti-convulsive effects
Administered to mice at 20ml/kg once daily for four consecutive days, the 20% suspension of Long Gu, Long Chi, and Hua Rui Shi can significantly counteract dimefline-induced convulsion.
Promoting blood coagulation
Administered to mice at 20ml/kg once daily for four consecutive days, the 20% suspension of Long Gu, Long Chi, and Hua Rui Shi can significantly shorten blood coagulation time.
