You want to grind you coffee beans and have them in the machine's filter within 25-30 seconds after completion. This ensures that those flavors that are confined within the bean are not completely released once ground. The longer the grounds sit, the more flavor your coffee loses.
This may take a few times to get it right, but you should play with the settings to see if you like fine grounds or thick, which will alter the strength of the coffee. You will notice a bitter taste if the grinds are too fine and a weaker taste if they are too coarse.
