(NC)-Any mom will tell you, it's the personal touches that make a difference, and that's especially true at Mother's Day.
"If you really want to make her day, give her something that reminds her of you," says Jennifer Kinnon of Hallmark Canada. "Put your individual touch on whatever you give her and she'll smile now and for years to come."
Here are a few easy ways to add the personal touch:
Personalize a card
You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a big impact. In these economic times, a card may be the best way to tell her you love her - but remember to make it personal with a poem, a photo or a memory.
Record your memories
Give mom the joy of hearing how much you love her in a recorded message that she can replay whenever wishes. A recordable greeting card will do the trick nicely, but you can even get a recordable photo album. It's a great way to capture a moment in time when the kids are little.
Let the kids get creative
Preparing for the big day can be a fun family project. If you need inspiration, look for kits that include everything required for a personalized craft. You can create a masterpiece on a mug, frame a handprint or even put a picture on a paperweight.
