The best way to manage sales activity

So what is sales management? In simple terms it is the most important function of an organisation as it manages the process of revenue, sales and sources of funds whilst achieving the company’s goals through effective, organising, planning and leading.

But what are the ways in which you can improve your sales management process for an effective result? It has been proved that the most difficult part of sales management is managing sales activity and having measurable methods of knowing if sales representatives are correctly and successfully engaging with the activities to produce revenue for your company.

Sales activity reporting is essential to successful sales management. This normally consists of collecting data on how the sales function is going as a whole and also with individual updates. Sales activity should be tracked with various software to control sales tasks, and keep detailed information on customers, such as the name of company visited and the reason for the call. Most importantly it allows the sales representative to describe the outcome of the visit and note the customers who did not purchase.

But…although sales recording can be effective it can also be extremely time consuming with tons of form filling and sales representatives being held within limits of complicated computer screens and paper organisation so choosing to go with something a little more modern and technological may be the path to take.

There are many technologies in today’s market and many are adapted to make sales recording process an easy one through improved communications, a rise in selling opportunities and the identification of training needs for your corporation.

If you currently have more than 5 people on your sales team and already have a sales activity recording process in place, but feel that is not as effective as it could be, there are now a variety of technologies including those that use simple SMS messages as a process to record activity.

From a simple 20 second written text, instant results are drawn into a table or chart with which there is accessible access at a click of a mouse. Reports that are generated as easily and quickly as this will give you exactly what you need to manage your teams effectively.
