  • Reduce stress
  • Decrease physical pain due to injury or stress
  • Prevent physical pain and injury
  • Relax tense muscles

  • Increase relaxation
  • Improve blood circulation
  • Improve the immune system

There are many massage techniques, and finding the best technique is usually a matter of personal preference. Common massage techniques include:

  • Swedish: The most popular and well-known
  • Deep Tissue: Goes into the deeper muscles that Swedish massage techniques cannot touch. May be a little intense and painful.
  • Reiki: Energy work; the body is actually not touched. This technique requires training and is not something you can learn from a book.
  • Acupressure/Acupuncture: An Eastern technique that involves stimulating acupuncture points to bring about change.
  • Rolfing: Follows the philosophy that poor posture can bring about physical pain. Rolfing corrects the poor posture by working with the connective tissue surrounding muscles.
  • Sports Massage: Sports massage is similar to Swedish and deep tissue massage techniques, only the emphasis is on preventing injury, promoting healing, relaxation and enhancing energy reserves.
  • Craniosacral: Craniosacral involves using an extremely limited amounted of pressure on the skull and spinal column to reduce stress and correct any injuries.
