2 . The Need for Motivation Today

The nature of motivational speaking has undergone a radical transformation over the years. Motivational speakers not only deliver speeches to inspire people and drive them towards a successful life, but also help them develop effective ideas in order to experience personal growth and development. It is understood that an improved personality equates to greater achievements in life, and motivational speakers help others directly through their speeches, as well as by training them for greater success.

In the context of today, a motivational speaker is essentially a professional speaker, facilitator, or trainer. Motivational speakers offer their services and valuable advice for a fee. They typically deliver a keynote address that is held at the start or the conclusion of an event. The speeches delivered by motivational speakers often last for 45 minutes to around 2 hours on an average. At times, motivational speeches are organized as a solo event, a workshop, or a seminar. These events are exclusively organized and last for around 4-8 hours and at times, even several days.

Motivational speakers are experts in motivational speaking and are either trained by institutions or self-specialized in the art of motivation. They come from a variety of backgrounds. Motivational speakers can speak on specific topics or general themes. The profession of motivational speaking usually doesn’t need a formal certification, and anybody who has the knack of motivating others can be a motivational speaker. To be a motivational speaker, the gift of speaking to a large audience is highly essential. Motivational speeches are also offered through video seminars or in the form of written material. The role of motivational speakers is a lot more pronounced in the stressful world of today. The wisdom that these speakers offer is truly invaluable.

Some of the most popular motivational speakers are Robert Kiyosaki, Anthony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar, Norman Vincent Peale, Joel Osteen, etc.

Robert Kiyosaki is renowned for the bestselling “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” series. Robert has always stressed the importance of principles in one’s life to create wealth and be financially secure. The characters of this book can be related to on a normal level, and this is what makes his motivational concepts so powerful.

Brian Tracy is a motivational speaker on business. His best-selling book “The Psychology of Selling” is a treasure for salespeople who have to grapple with a variety of issues every day of their stressful career.

Anthony Robbins is a very popular American motivational expert. He is one of the best writers of self-help books and has a reputation of training world leaders.

Zig Ziglar is a popular motivational speaker on religion. He started his motivational speaking profession way back in 1970. All his speeches reflect the intimate relationship that he shares with God.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale was one of the most popular advocates of “positive thinking.” His works were deep-rooted in the importance of positive thinking in living a confident life.
